Your stage name, social presence, which platforms to use, what to post, and how to own your narrative.

Your name is your brand

Pick a stage name that’s unique, searchable, and doesn’t connect to your legal name. Every scene you do gets filed under it. Make it something you want to build a career on.

Social media

A professional Twitter/X and Instagram give studios a way to see your personality, your look, and how you promote content. You don’t need a massive following - you need consistency and professionalism.

Be bookable

  • Respond to messages quickly
  • Have recent, accurate photos available
  • Keep your testing current
  • Show up when you say you will
  • Be easy to work with on set

Long game thinking

The performers who last 5+ years treat their name like a business. They think about which studios to work with, how their content positions them, and what their search results say. Start thinking this way from day one.

Separate accounts

Stage name accounts for work. Personal accounts stay personal. Don’t cross-contaminate. The moment you link your real identity to your stage name publicly, you can’t undo it.

What helps

  • Promoting your content - studios notice when you drive traffic
  • Professional photos - shows you take your career seriously
  • Engaging with the community - other performers, studios, fans
  • Consistent posting - doesn’t have to be daily, just regular

What hurts

  • Drama with other performers publicly
  • Sharing things that could embarrass you or the studios you work with
  • Reposting without verifying - your reputation is on the line
  • Sharing content that belongs to studios without permission

Privacy settings

Lock down your personal accounts. Private everything. Don’t use the same email, phone number, or profile picture across work and personal accounts. People will look.
